Looking Back Part II

And the wedding photo dump continues...

My niece and nephew came out right before me with my little hand made sign...this was a big hit with everyone.

This is my "don't cry face"

Thank goodness he had tissues! I lost it when I looked at my Grandma. She had a stroke and a bad fall a few months before the wedding and we went sure she would be able to come. She had to come in a wheelchair but I was so happy she could be there with us.

I messed up our vows and we lost it. Classic.

Looking Back

I am sititng here wondering how time manages to just fly right by while we are busy living. Two days ago, January 19th was the eight month mark for PJ and I. How have we been married for 8 months already?! Eight is the magic number of today because this year will be our eighth year together. So crazy.

What got me thinking about this? Our wedding photographer sent me a message asking if we would be willing to sign a release so that our wedding photos could be used in a brochure for the campas we got married on. How exciting, right?

In honor of the 8 month mark, I'd like to share some wedding photos. A quick recap of the most wonderful day thus far.  I had a hard time choosing just a few pictures so I split it up into a couple of posts that way it won't be picture overload.
This is the church where we were married. My husband went to college on the campus where this church located. We had some many wonderful memories in this small town that it seemed like a no brainer that we should be married here.

The Altar. My sweet mother in law owns a flower shop and she handled all of the decor for me. Everything was so beautiful and better than I would have imagined.

My bouquet. This thing smelled as wonderful as it looked. Even if it did weigh 5 million pounds.

Our rings. I wanted something mismatched when it came to my wedding set. So we went the custom route. I am so in love with my rings. I still catch myself staring at them. Hubby said he didn't want a ring and would never wear it. I don't think a single day has passed that he hasn't worn it. It's adorable. He sleeps, works out, does yard work and still the thing never leaves his finger.

My dress. I tore a picture out of a magazine probably a year before we were even engaged. This was my dream dress. It really wasn't in my price range but every time I put in a dress I couldn't help but think of that picture. I finally bit the bullet and tried this one on. It was maybe the 5th dress I tried and it was game over the second they laced up that corset. I plan to sell it, but I just haven't gotten around to that part yet.

My pretty purple shoes.

My girls lacing me up. I lost too much weight (I know, poor me..lol) prior to the wedding so I had to have someone tighten me up about a hundred times throughout the night.

My maid of honor got all up in my dress trying to find the strings of the corset so I wouldn't bust my ass coming down the aisle.
The last shot of my engagement ring ridin' solo.

I've never felt more beautiful than I did on this day.

We did a first look. I loved how it came out. My husband is not a mushy romantic kinda guy. He was so cute and happy to see me. But, all he could muster was "Uh, you look really pretty". We still laugh about that.
"I can't believe we are really doing this!"

My nephew was so adorable in his little get up. I purchased this little outfit on clearance for a whopping $14.00. Sure beats the $40.00 tux rental.

Get ready...up next...ceremony photos.

Thirteen in 2013

I've never been much for New Year's resolutions. Sure, I could promise to go to the gym everyday and never eat Taco Bell again. But, seriously, who am I kidding? Working out isn't all that fun and Taco Bell is delicious. However, I do find it refreshing that so many people take the time to reflect on their lives and what they can do to make it better. Even if it only lasts for a day, a week, a month--everyone seems to stop thinking and start doing. So, this year I'm making a list of things I want to accomplish in 2013. 13 things to be exact...oh yeah, so clever.

1. Travel- this is already in the works. We are planning a trip to Boston in March and Italy (Rome and The Amalfi Coast)  in Septemeber. I can taste the gelato already.

2. Start cooking more. I like to cook, I just always find an excuse not to.
3. Spend more time with my family. My sweet grandma isn't doing all that well, and my nieces and nephews are growing up so stinkin' fast and I don't want miss out on their lives. I have really been slacking and getting caught up in my day to day. Work/Sleep/Work/Sleep. I've got make time for the ones that matter most.
4. Use my gym membership. Whether I make it one day next week or five, I need to at least try to get my ass in the door.
5. Finish up at least 3 house projects. We have done so much already but there's still plenty on the "to do list".
6. Actually get dressed and ready on the days I don't work. The only laundry I make consists of underwear, socks and navy blue scrubs. I'm sure my husband just loves coming home to see me with no make-up, sweats and a pony tail everyday...NOT.
7. Take the dogs for more walks. This one is tricky because we live in Ohio...and it's January. Not exactly warm right now. But, they need exercise and we have been very bad about making sure they get it.
8. Drink more water. I always reach for Coke Zero or coffee at work but I really should be filling water bottle up with H20.
9. Work some extra shifts and beef up my savings. No explanation here. I just want to have a bigger safety net.
10. Make it a habit to go on regular date nights- try new things! Go on a day date to the museum or window shopping instead of the regular dinner and movie deal we usually do .
11. Organize a little bit. I used to be so anal with everything when I was in school. I was that girl with the color coded binders. Now we are in this huge house and I have no idea where anything is.
12. Get the certifications I need for work. I have a couple of classes that I need to get knocked out but I keep putting it off.
13. This is a big one...start working on project "Baby Carter" by the end of the year. My husband is not quite on the baby train yet.  I am hoping after we get international travel under our belt, beef up our savings and make this house a little less of a shit show...maybe, just maybe, he will be more ready.  So, really this post could be titled "baby bucket list" as well.

**Update- I've actually got a pretty good start on some of these--with posts in the works to prove it! Yay. Look out 2013--I'm trying to make you our best year yet.

The Infamous "First Post"

I've decided to do a quick little introduction for those of you who stubble upon this little blog of mine.

So who am I? I'm Alli. I am married to a sweet man named PJ. We were married this past May, after 7 years together. We bought our first house in August of 2011, and like so many other newlyweds, it is a huge work in progress. We have two wild, bat shit crazy dogs that we wouldn't trade for the world.  I work as an RN in a local Emergency Room. I have a huge, crazy family. I'm just a boring 25 year old who feels like life is flying by and my memories are becoming fuzzy in the process. I'm hoping this little blog will make documenting my boring life a little easier and a little more fun.

Warning: I am completely random and I have no idea what types of things will make it on here.

You can expect posts about my crazy nights in the ER (without names of details so I don't get my ass dragged into court!).

You can expect lots of pictures of our crazy pups doing ridiculous things-eating the curtains and breaking the Christmas tree in the same day? you betcha!

You can expect posts about how we are slowly de-funking this 70's house of ours.

You will be sure to see posts about the shenanigans that us 20 something's with no kids can get into. (Slap cup until 7am? Taco Bell and beer for dinner 2 nights week? It's possible).

Let the fun begin.
